Maria Sharapova becomes Porche’s first global brand ambassador

German car company Porche announced that it has signed on world number two Maria Sharapova as its first global brand ambassador. The lucrative deal is good for three year. This development was announced on Monday this week.

Sharapova has endorsed a luxury-car manufacturer in the past. She was the endorser of Land Rover in 2006. The endorsement deal was good for three years.

“This is a really special day for me,” Sharapova said in Stuttgart, Germany.

”I have had the privilege to be associated with some of the best brands in the world, but now to be partners with Porsche is such an amazing honor,” she added.

Sharapova is currently at the German city to defend her title at the Porsche Grand Prix. By winning the title, she received a Porsche 911 apart from the cash prize.

“Maria Sharapova is an exceptional athlete,” Porsche AG CEO Matthias Mueller said in a statement. “She combines top performance in her sports with elegance and power. These are precisely the qualities that are embroiled in our sports cars.”
