Rafael Nadal guns for title number 55 at Madrid Masters 2013, beats Andujar in semis

World number five Rafael Nadal ended the dream run of compatriot Pablo Andujar in the semifinals of the Madrid Masters 2013 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory. The match lasted 77 minutes. Up next for the Spaniard is Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka in the Madrid Masters 2013 final which takes place on Sunday.

Nadal will be contesting his seventh consecutive final this season. He’s won four out of the six finals so far and he could increase it to five with a victory against Wawrinka, where he holds an 8-0 head to head series advantage. However, he’s not going to take his opponent for granted since Wawrinka has just won the Portugal Open last weekend.

“I’ve only played seven tournaments [and] I don’t know if I’m going to be able to compete to win Roland Garros,” said Nadal. “I don’t know it today. The only thinking I have is that how I [have] played until now has been really good. The results have been really positive.

“Today I’m enjoying my path to the final in one of the most important tournaments in the world. We go step by step, week by week even when we get to Roland Garros.”

Nadal is also contesting for a career 30th title on clay, and 55th overall.
