The Roland Garros 2013 tournament is now in full swing with the world’s best tennis stars converging at the French Capital to vie for the prestigious French Open title.
The Roland Garros men’s singles draw features tough matches and with his stellar performance since his comeback on the ATP Tour, world number four Rafael Nadal is the heavy favorite to win his eighth Roland Garros title this year. The Spaniard has so far accumulated six titles since February, including three Masters 1000 titles in Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome. With the withdrawal of world number two Andy Murray, Nadal’s seeding at the French Open has risen to number three which means that he is projected to meet top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
World number one Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a strong 2013 season so far, beginning with his successful title defense at the Australian Open. Djokovic is a strong contender at the French Open with his runner-up finish last year (to Nadal) and having been one of the rare few players to have been Nadal at a claycourt title match – at this year’s Monte Carlo Masters final.
World number three and Roland Garros second seed Roger Federer is not to be dismissed among the favorites to win Roland Garros. The 2009 champion has also reached the final multiple times and will be a dangerous threat even to the younger players. The Swiss star is projected to meet fourth seed David Ferrer of Spain in the semifinals.
