Andy Murray signs up to be Nadal’s quarterfinal opponent at Wimbledon 2013

There has been a lot of speculations as to what will be Rafael Nadal‘s seeding at the Wimbledon Championships which begins on Monday. The rumors were laid to rest this week after the All England Club announced that the Spaniard, who just won his eighth French Open title earlier this month, will be seeded fifth at Wimbledon. Prior to this announcement, British tennis superstar Andy Murray said that he doesn’t mind facing Nadal in the quarterfinals at the All England Club.

“I’d sign up to be in the quarter-finals against Rafa tomorrow if someone was to offer me that,” he said.

“I know there will be a lot of interest in the draw this year, as Rafael Nadal looks like being seeded fifth, but as a player you can’t get too obsessed about the draw.

“You could say if I get through that match then the semi-final might not be as tough, but if you want to win the biggest tournaments you have to beat the best players in the world. It doesn’t really matter where they are in the draw.”

As per the Wimbledon 2013 men’s draw released on Friday, Murray won’t be facing Nadal until the semifinals, should the seedings hold. Nadal could potentially face third-seeded Roger Federer in the quarterfinals.

The Wimbledon 2013 Championships will begin on Monday, June 24.
