World number one Novak Djokovic has now reached the Roland Garros semifinals for the third straight year after overcoming tough challenge from German Tommy Haas 6-3, 7-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinal match conducted on Wednesday.
This is Djokovic’s 12th consecutive Grand Slam semifinal appearance and he is attempting to become the eighth ATP player to complete a career Grand Slam with a title victory in Paris. His goal is going to be tougher this year as he needs to get past 7-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal to make it to the final.
Nadal currently has a 19-15 head to head series lead over Djokovic but in their last meeting, at the Monte Carlo Masters final, the Serbian world number one won in straight sets, effectively ending Nadal’s 8-year reign in Monaco.
