Svetlana Kuznetsova pulls out of Wimbledon 2013 due to abdominal strain

Two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia has reportedly pulled out of the Wimbledon 2013 Championships, which begins on Monday, due to abdominal strain.

Kuznetsova, who has posted remarkable results this season after having recuperated from injuries last year, would have been seeded 26th at the All England Club. With the withdrawal, Czech player and 33rd-ranked Klara Zakopalova will get the number 32 seeding.

Kuznetsova has reached the quarterfinals in the first two Grand Slam events of this year at the Australian Open and at the French Open earlier this month where she was defeated by eventual champion Serena Williams.

The Russian has won the US Open in 2004 and the French Open in 2009.
