Wawrinka still happy with quarterfinal finish at Roland Garros

Swiss number two Stanislas Wawrinka said that even though he lost at the French Open quarterfinals against seven-time champion Rafael Nadal, he still has a lot to be thankful for.

“I shouldn’t forget that before the tournament I had many uncertainties,” Wawrinka said. “I didn’t have the right preparation, you see. It was complicated for me. I was not even certain I could play.

“I played really well here. It was very important given the results I had to continue to play steadily. It really shows I’m on the right tracks. I’ve got to continue like this, tread the same path and increase my game level, improve day in, day out, to do this on each and every single match,” he added.
