Del Potro reaches Wimbledon second week for third straight year

Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro reached the second week of the Wimbledon Championships for the third consecutive year.

The eighth-seed defeated Slovenia’s Grega Zemlja 7-5, 7-6, 6-0. He will next face 23rd seed Andreas Seppi of Italy where the Argentine has a 3-0 head to head series lead.

Del Potro had an injury scare in the third set where he slid slip and turned his left ankle. He received medical treatment during the match.

“I will see the doctor, because I was going for the drop shot and I twisted my ankle,” said del Potro. “I hyper-extended my knee. It was really painful. I was a little scared at that moment.”
