Radwanska beats Li to reach Wimbledon 2013 semifinals

World number four Agnieszka Radwanska secured her place at the Wimbledon 2013 semifinals with a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 quarterfinal victory over China’s Li Na on Tuesday. The match took more than three and a half hours to complete and there were two rain delays in between that they had to wait out.

The final game of the match was intense as it lasted ten minutes. The fourth-seeded Pole finally won the match on her eighth match point.

Last year, Radwanska became the first Polish female player since 1939 to reach a Grand Slam singles final at the All England Club but she lost a tight three set match to Serena Williams.

Radwanska will next face Germany’s Sabine Lisicki. The latter eliminated defending champion Williams in the fourth round on Monday and returned less than 24 hours later to eliminate Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the quarterfinals.
