Rafael Nadal may skip Cincinnati Masters 2013 tournament

World number four Rafael Nadal is just among top players who’s considering a lighter US Open hardcourt schedule by skipping the Cincinnati Masters 2013 tournament.

In an interview with Marca , Nadal said that he will be participating at the Rogers Cup 2013 tournament next week but depending on how he’ll perform at this Canadian tournament, he will be skipping the next Masters 1000 tournament.

According to the Spaniard, aside from the concerns on how his knees will hold up, he will have to contend also with the elbow/left arm injury that he sustained in his shock first round loss in Wimbledon last month.

Nadal hasn’t won the Cincinnati event and has yet to reach the final.
