Roger Federer happy to be part of Suisse Open Gstaad tourney

World number five Roger Federer said that he’s happy to be back in Gstaad for this year’s Crédit Agricole Suisse Open. The Swiss star made his debut at the ATP Tour in this tournament 15 years ago.

“It’s nice, it’s home, it’s the cows, it’s the Alps, it’s everything you know about Switzerland and more, especially here in Gstaad. It’s a very unique event and I’m happy to be part of it again this year.”

Federer is aiming to win his second title of the season at this ATP 250 claycourt event. Last week, Federer made it to the semifinals of the German Tennis Championships where he lost to Argentine Federico Delbonis. Late last month, the Swiss star lost in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships where he entered the grasscourt Slam as the defending champion. The early loss prompted him to enter these two events in order to test a new and bigger racquet.

“Clearly I’ve been asking myself questions of how can I get out of, I wouldn’t call it a slump because I did win Halle in between, and I know that the game’s just around the corner,” he said. “It’s just important that I take the right decisions, how to move forward from here and then how I bounce back, because usually when things don’t go so well I find a way, and that’s what I’m looking for right now.”
