Roger Federer yet to decide on racquet change

World number five Roger Federer stated that he’s yet to decide whether the change of his tennis racquet will become permanent.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Federer is testing out a new racquet which he debuted last week at the German Tennis Championships. He lost in a tight semifinal match to Federico Delbonis of Argentina.

The new blacked-out Wilson racquet has a larger 98-square inch head, a far cry from his usual 90-square inch racquet which he’s been using for several years.

“So far, I’m happy with this change, but I need many hours on the court to see if this is a good decision. I haven’t yet taken the decision on whether to use it in the US. I still need to think it over,” he said.

“There are players who have experienced problems when they changed racquets, Fernando Verdasco and to some extent Novak Djokovic,” he added.

Federer is currently at Gstaad, Switzerland this week for the Suisse Open, a tournament which he says is very special since he made his professional debut at this event fifteen years ago.
