Sabine Lisicki secures second career Wimbledon semifinal after beating Kanepi

Germany’s Sabine Lisicki continued her dramatic run at the Wimbledon 2013 Championships by beating Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 6-3 in just 61 minutes on Tuesday. Lisicki secured a semifinal berth for the second time in her career at the All England Club.

The 23rd seed made headlines yesterday when she defeated defending champion and world number one Serena Williams in the fourth round. She did not have any problems dispatching Kanepi in the quarterfinals.

Lisicki reached the semifinal in 2011 and has an impressive record at the All England Club compared to other Major events. She’s reached the quarterfinals or better in her past four appearances. In all of those instances, she has defeated the French Open champion of that year at Wimbledon.

Up next for Lisicki is the winner of the Agnieszka Radwanska vs Li Na Quarterfinal match.
