Andy Murray wishes to have competed against Andre Agassi

World number two Andy Murray revealed that the one person he wished he had competed with was eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi in an interview with ATP World Tour.

The British tennis star became a professional in 2005 which was just a year prior to Agassi’s retirement from the sport. According to ATP Tour data, they were drawn on the same quarter of a tournament in Washington in 2006 but they didn’t face each other back then.

“I’ve been pretty fortunate to have got to compete with the guys that are around just now and will go down as being some of the best players that have ever played the game, so I’ve been lucky in that respect,” Murray said on Monday during the start of the Cincinnati Masters 2013 tournament.

“Getting to play Tim Henman was great. I would have loved to play Agassi. That was one player I didn’t get to play. When I was growing up, I loved watching him play. I did get to practise with him a few times, but that was one guy I would have liked to play against,” he added.

Murray is attempting to win the Cincinnati Masters for the third time. He lost in the third round of the Montreal Masters 2013 last week to Ernests Gulbis of Latvia.
