Australian tennis pro Casey Dellacqua opens about sexuality, being a new mom

Australian professional tennis player Casey Dellacqua has revealed in a recent interview with Australian Daily The Age that she’s gay and that she has welcomed a baby with her partner just a few weeks ago.

Dellacqua is currently in New York for the US Open 2013 Championships. She lost her singles match in the first round against Ajla Tomljanovic of Croatia. The Australian is currently ranked 184th in singles but will still be busy in New York as she’s taking part in doubles event with fellow Australian Ashleigh Barty. She’s seeded sixth in doubles.

“I’m loving motherhood, my whole thing in life is family and it’s been a pretty exciting time. If anything, I don’t know, maybe it makes me a bit more motivated because I’ve got something to play for. It’s an elite sport but there’s so much more to life and for me that’s what life’s about, about family so we’ll try and make it work. You see a lot of players out on tour with families,” Dellacqua was quoted as saying.
