Former top-ten Mardy Fish pulls out of US Open 2013 Championships

American tennis player Mardy Fish has pulled out of the US Open 2013 Championships which begin on Monday, August 26. The former top-ten player was making a comeback this year after dealing with heart-related medical issues with mixed results.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) said that the 31-year old pro stated “personal reasons” for the reason of non-participation. The US Open 2013 draw will take place on Thursday this week.

Fish reached the US Open fourth round last year wherein he had to withdraw from his match against Roger Federer due to precautionary measures as per doctor’s orders. Earlier last year, the American had to miss nearly three months on tour due to palpitations.

The American tweeted this message on Wednesday: “Friends, unfortunately my health won’t allow me to compete this year at the US Open. Thank you for all your support.”
