Knee injury forces Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to withdraw from North American hardcourt events, including US Open 2013

World number eight Jo-Wilfried Tsonga stated that his left knee needs more time to fully recover and as such the Frenchman is forced to miss the entire North American hardcourt events, including the US Open 2013 Championships which begins on August 26.

Tsonga hasn’t competed on tour since June 26 when he had to retire from his second round match at Wimbledon Championships versus Ernests Gulbis of Latvia. The Frenchman released a statement via his official website on Thursday stating that he is optimistic that he will be back in action for the Moselle Open in Metz, France which is slated in September.

Tsonga missed high profile hardcourt events such as the Montreal Masters and Cincinnati Masters due to the injury.
