Marin Cilic officially pulls out of US Open 2013 Championships

Croatian tennis pro Marin Cilic has officially announced that he will be pulling out of the US Open 2013 Championships which begins on August 26 in New York.

Cilic has been out of the tour since pulling out of his second round match at Wimbledon. Reports surfaced that he’s currently under investigation for a doping offense. The Croatian was expected to participate at the Montreal Masters last week but also pulled out of the event, including this week’s Cincinnati Masters.

Cilic becomes the second ATP player to pull out of the US Open due to alleged doping violations. Viktor Troicki of Serbia was handed an 18-month suspension due to doping offense and could not join the last Grand Slam event of the year.
