No American male in ATP Top 20 next week after Isner falls at Montreal, a first for U.S.

For the first time in rankings history, there won’t be any American male tennis player at the ATP Tour rankings starting next week.

World number 20 John Isner of the US was ousted in the first round of the Montreal Masters 2013 tournament by Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in three sets. Isner was a semifinalist at this event last year, meaning he had to defend 360 ranking points.

America’s number two player Sam Querrey, ranked 26th, pulled out of the Montreal Masters due to a family matter.
