Novak Djokovic believes Nadal is the better player this 2013 season

World number one Novak Djokovic believes that ever since rival Rafael Nadal has returned in the ATP Tour earlier this season, he has become the “best player in the world.”

“Rafa since he’s come back has been the best player in the world, no question about it,” Djokovic said in an ESPN interview after his third round win at the Cincinnati Masters 2013.

Though he’s currently ranked number one in the world, Djokovic trails Nadal in the 2013 ranking points. Nadal increased his lead among the rest after winning his fourth ATP 1000 Masters event of the season in Montreal last weekend. Numbers show that three players are competing for the year-end number one ranking – Djokovic, Andy Murray and Nadal.

Nadal has won an outstanding eight titles out of ten tournaments participated this season. His major blimp would have been the first round exit at the Wimbledon Championships last June but he has excelled in everything else, including hoisting his eighth Roland Garros trophy in May.
