Novak Djokovic cruises into Montreal Masters semifinals, to meet Rafael Nadal for 36th time

World number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia is through to the semifinal of the Montreal Masters 2013 after routing ninth-ranked Richard Gasquet of France 6-1, 6-2. It was a rematch of last year’s final. The two-time defending champion extends his winning streak at this event to 13.

“As close to perfection as you can be. In every part of my game I did almost my best. From the start of the match I tried to dictate the play on the court and be in control of the rallies. I’ve done really well. Of course, serve was very efficient, very high percentage of first serves, a lot of aces, a lot of free points. That’s something that obviously gives you confidence,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic is gunning for his fourth title at Rogers Cup, having first won the event in 2007. It will be a challenging task for him to make it to the final since he will be facing rival Rafael Nadal of Spain in the semifinals. This will be the 36th meeting between the two tennis stars.

“For me it’s very important to try to start well tomorrow against whoever I play. You know, if I’m playing as well as I did today, I think I have a chance to really win against anybody on this court,” he said.
