However, he made another step further with a convincing three set victory over seventh-ranked Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. Later in the day, world number three Rafael Nadal toughed out a close two-set victory over new world number five Tomas Berdych 7-5, 7-6 to reach the Cincinnati Masters final. Nadal is still unbeaten in hardcourt matches this year which saw him win the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the Montreal Masters last weekend. The Spaniard is now gunning for a record 26th ATP Masters 1000 title on Sunday.
