World number two Rafael Nadal secured the US Open Series 2013 men’s title on Monday, August 19 after John Isner announced that he will be pulling out of the Winston-Salem Open in North Carolina. Isner had the chance to overtake Nadal in the standings if he reaches semifinals or better at this final warm-up event for the US Open. With this victory, Nadal will have a chance to take home an additional $1 million if he wins the US Open 2013 men’s singles title. With the winner’s already at $2.6 million, Nadal can get home up to $3.6 million if he goes home with his 12th Grand Slam title in New York.
Isner can get up to $500,000 additional cash prize if he wins the US Open title. Third placer Juan Martin Del Potro can get $250,000 in bonus prize if he wins his second US Open title this year.
