Roger Federer serves as guest of honor of Moët & Chandon’s 270th anniversary celebration

Swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer graced the 270th-year anniversary celebration of Moët & Chandon, touted as the champagne of glamour and success which was founded in 1743, at a special event in New York. The world number seven is the Global Brand Ambassador for the company.

“It is a big deal for [me] and Moet & Chandon,” said Federer. “I’m the Global Brand Ambassador for them, so it’s an exciting night here tonight to celebrate 270 years.”

Top personalities seen at the event were DJ Bob Sinclair, Actors Jeffrey Wright, Katrina Bowden, Anthony Mackie and Josh Lucas. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour was also seen at the event.

Federer is currently in New York for the US Open 2013 Championships which begin on Monday, August 26. The Swiss star is gunning for a historic 18th Grand Slam singles title at the Big Apple.

“One thing’s for sure, I‘ll give everything I have,” said Federer. “As usual, I’m excited to be back in New York and I hope it is going to be a good trip for me. I feel good, I feel confident, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Federer’s wife Mirka and their children, four-year old twins Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, are also with him in New York.

“My wife has been incredibly supportive throughout and she’s always the backbone. It’s been great with her, and the family is here too. We’re all very happy to be back in New York and enjoying our time, not just on the court, but clearly also away from it. But I am very focused on making sure I do well on the tennis court first. I’ve had enough vacation this year, I need to make sure I practise and get back to the old form again.”
