Roger Federer thanks millions of fans for birthday wishes

World number five Roger Federer of Switzerland extended his thanks to millions of his fans worldwide by using the social networking sites.

The former top-ranked player and 17-time Grand Slam champion posted a photo of himself on Facebook and gave a small caption. Federer celebrated his 32nd birthday on August 8.

“Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I had a great day yesterday. I am lucky to have the best fans in the world….”.

The Swiss tennis superstar has pulled out of this week’s Montreal Masters to recover from a back injury. He’s currently in Cincinnati and practicing ahead of the Cincinnati Masters 2013 which begins on Monday, August 12. Federer is the defending champion at this event.

Federer dropped to world number five for the first time in a decade due to sub-par performance this season. He’s in danger of dropping further to as low as number 7 prior to the US Open if he fails to defend the Cincinnati title.
