Royal Mail issues special Andy Murray stamps to commemorate Wimbledon victory

Royal Mail, the government-owned postal service in Great Britain, is set to issue a special set of souvenir stamps featuring world number two Andy Murray following his historic victory at the Wimbledon Championships last month.

“We are thrilled for Andy and are delighted to mark his wonderful achievement by issuing a set of special stamps. His historic win at Wimbledon has made the nation proud, and we can now celebrate his success with this new stamp issue,” said Royal Mail Managing Director of Stamps and Collectibles Andrew Hammond.

The stamps are available for purchase starting August 8. The available sets are: miniature set (£3.76), presentation pack (£4.30), First Day Cover UK addresses (£4.99) and First Day Cover non-UK addresses (£4.16).

Murray made his home country proud when he became the first British male player since 1936 to win the Wimbledon Championships. Murray defeated top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the final. This is Murray’s second Grand Slam title after his US Open 2012 win.
