Maria Sharapova denies being engaged to beau Grigor Dimitrov

World number three Maria Sharapova has officially denied rumors that she and beau, fellow tennis professional Grigor Dimitrov, are engaged to be married. Sharapova, 26, and Dimitrov, 22, have been dating since the start of this year.

Sharapova has been out of the tour since her opening round loss at the Cincinnati Open. She’s currently rehabing her injured shoulder plagued by bursitis. The Russian remains busy via media appearances, including the recently broadcasted interview with Larry King. During the interview, Sharapova said that she’s not yet engaged.

“No, I’m not getting married. Not that I know of!” she said.

When asked about the short-lived partnership with tennis legend Jimmy Connors, Sharapova said.

”It was just not the right fit, wrong timing with my injury with everything going on. It was just not the right time.”

Sharapova also stated in the interview that she plans to compete at the WTA Tour Championships 2013 in Istanbul next month.

“That’s my goal. I really want to finish with that tournament this year. But I also want to heal my shoulder. It’s going to take as much time as it needs. Bursitis is a bit tricky because there’s not much you can do for it except wait for it to get better. I’m not a patient person so that makes it extremely difficult.”
