Rafael Nadal breaches $10 million prize money mark for 2013 with US Open win

Rafael Nadal‘s total prize money this season has breached the $10 million mark after winning his 10th title of 2013. The Spaniard defeated top-ranked Novak Djokovic of Serbia to win the US Open 2013 title, his 13th Grand Slam singles title.

The winner of the US Open men’s singles title goes home with a $2.6 prize purse. However, Nadal gets an additional $1 million bonus since he also won the US Open Series. Prior to the US Open, Nadal has a total prize money for 2013 of $6,848,869 but with an additional $3.6 million prize purse, his new total is now $10,448,869 as of September 9. With several tournaments still scheduled for the rest of the season, Nadal will continue to increase the prize money numbers.
