Rafael Nadal hopes for Madrid to host 2020 Olympics

World number two Rafael Nadal is currently preparing for his upcoming semifinal match against Richard Gasquet of France at the US Open on Saturday but the Spaniard is also keeping track with the developments for the choice to which city will host the 2020 Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city for the 2020 Summer Olympics on Saturday. The announcement will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The final three cities for consideration include Madrid, Tokyo and Istanbul.

“We have a wonderful delegation, with very important people promoting us in Buenos Aires. They are doing a great job representing us and hopefully, between us all, we will have done our bit to make Madrid 2020 a reality,” Nadal said.

Nadal won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The Spaniard is aiming to become the first male player in history to win more than one gold medal in singles in Olympics. He’s slated to participate in Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
