Spain’s Rafael Nadal will regain the world number one ranking if he reaches at least the semifinals of the China Open 2013 tournament in Beijing this week.
Nadal enters the ATP 500 hardcourt event as world number two. However, top-ranked Novak Djokovic of Serbia is the defending champion of the event and will need to at least win the title in order to have a chance of retaining the number one ranking. The Serbian is now on his 101st week as the world number one player.
