Richard Gasquet targets top 8 finish by end of season, to play at ATP World Tour Finals

Frenchman Richard Gasquet is aiming to be part of the elite top eight by the end of the 2013 season, thereby making eligible to compete at the prestigious ATP World Tour Finals in London.

He might just be on his way to achieving this feat after reaching the US Open 2013 Semifinals. He lost his bid to reach the final via a straight sets defeat to Rafael Nadal on Saturday.

“This year, when I started the year, I wanted to play the Masters Cup,” Gasquet said, referring to the ATP World Tour Finals.

“I think I’m in the top 10 for the race, so for sure it’s a big achievement for me. I’m still in the race to do that, and I will try to play London this year,” he added.
