Tennis fans from all over the world will certainly be looking forward to a highly anticipated matchup between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic at the 2014 Davis Cup after the draw saw Switzerland facing Serbia in the first round of competitions in the World Group.
However, this matchup may also not happen since Federer doesn’t usually take part in the first round of competitions at Davis Cup. This year the Swiss superstar skipped the team event although he might be persuaded to participate next year since Switzerland is back in the elite World Group.
His teammate Stanislas Wawrinka, who led the Swiss Davis Cup team to victory last weekend, has stated that he wanted his friend to be part of the team next year. Switzerland defeated Ecuador to seal a spot in the World Group.
“No, my dream is that Roger would text me and say, ‘Go and win this tie and next year I’ll be a part of the team,” Wawrinka was quoted as saying.
