World number ten Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland will now have a chance to overtake compatriot Roger Federer as the top-ranked Swiss player at the ATP World Tour Race to London standings with a title win at the Malaysian Open Kuala Lumpur 2013 which begins on September 23.
Wawrinka has amassed 2,925 ranking points for the 2013 season which is currently good at eighth place in the standings. Roger Federer, on the other hand, has 3,055 which is a lead of mere 130 ranking points. A title win at Malaysian Open will mean an addition of 250 ranking points for Wawrinka.
Federer will have a chance to increase his ranking points a few weeks later as he is slated to compete at the Shanghai Rolex Masters, an ATP 1000 event.
