Angelique Kerber pulls out of Kremlin Cup

Tenth-ranked Angelique Kerber has officially pulled out of this week’s Kremlin Cup tournament after she won the Generali Ladies Linz on Sunday.

The German already qualified for the season-ending WTA Championships in Istanbul for making a deep run at Linz. She’ll be taking this week off to prepare for the $6 million event in Turkey.

Russia’s Maria Kirilenko will be replacing her spot in the draw.

Linz runner-up Ana Ivanovic will still compete in Moscow for the WTA Premier event. Other marquee names in the field are Roberta Vinci, Simona Halep, Carla Suarez Navarro, Samantha Stosur and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
