Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki, currently making tennis headlines due to her rumored breakup from golfer Rory McIlroy, had great things to say about world number one Serena Williams. Wozniacki is a former top-ranked player herself.
“Serena is an amazing player. When she’s at her best, I think she’s just that extra level ahead of us. She’s so strong and so experienced, and she has the determination. She’s an unbelievable champion. You can see how many Grand Slams she’s won, and you don’t do that by accident. It’s really amazing what she’s achieved and she’s a great person as well. I really respect her for everything she’s done,” the Dane said during the news conference at this week’s Luxembourg Open where she’s the top seed.
When asked how she would assess her current season, Wozniacki said:
“It’s been a very good learning experience for me, and hopefully I can use that experience next year. What fits my game, what suits me – I’ll learn from it all and it’s just about moving on from there. I just need to keep playing the way I do and hopefully next year will be a great year for me.”
