Chinese fans show overwhelming love for Roger Federer

Swiss superstar Roger Federer is one of the most recognizable players in China and this was evidenced during the launch of the 2013 Shanghai Rolex Masters on Saturday as the 17-time Grand Slam champion was welcomed by Chinese fans as he officially launched the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Federer revealed the “Shanghai 2013” sign located at the baseline of the Stadium court during the ceremony. Fans from all over have been waiting for Federer to compete once more. The Swiss maestro’s last tournament was the US Open a month ago where he lost in the fourth round to Tommy Robredo.

In order to boost his chances of qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals, Federer needs to perform well at this prestigious hardcourt event. He’s currently ranked seventh in the ATP Race to London standings.
