David Ferrer to face Grigor Dimitrov for Stockholm Open final

World number three David Ferrer showed no signs of slowing down despite having secured a place at the ATP World Tour Finals after reaching the final of the If Stockholm Open on Saturday. The Spaniard eliminated Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Up next for Ferrer is Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov who ousted Benoit Paire of France 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

“I played my best match this week,” Ferrer said. “It was a very tough match. I needed my game to be solid and not make many mistakes…I ran and fought a lot. In the important moments I played better.”

This is Ferrer’s seventh final of the 2013 season and he’s eyeing a third crown of the year after winning titles in Auckland and Buenos Aires.

Ferrer believes he’ll win the title if he produces the same game he played against Gulbis.

“I have to play like I did today.”

Ferrer does have a 3-0 head to head series lead over Dimitrov. The Bulgarian is through to his second career ATP World Tour final and is focused on claiming his first title of his career.

“I’m happy I stayed really focused throughout the match and even though it went three sets I was still believing in my game,” he said.

“Hopefully I can recover and I’m going to be out there (fighting) for a win.”
