Juan Carlos Ferrer hopes to become Davis Cup captain someday

Retired former top-ranked player Juan Carlos Ferrero said that he hopes to become the captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team someday in the future.

His compatriot, retired former number one Carlos Moya secured the spot as team captain. Moya has signed up as Spanish Davis Cup captain for the 2014 season.

“I would love to become captain of the team. It ‘s one of the plans I have for the future. I have never been a candidate for this role and the Federation has never asked me if I was going to do it. Perhaps one day it happen, At the moment, I believe that Carlos Moya deserves to be the captain and that it is quite capable of performing this task, because he has had many experiences in Davis Cup and knows perfectly well the players who will train. ”

Ferrero currently works as the Tournament Director of this week’s ATP Valencia Open 500. He also runs his own tennis academy.
