Laura Robson ends coaching partnership with Miles Maclagan

British tennis player Laura Robson has reportedly ended her coaching partnership with Miles Maclagan. Maclagan has once coached Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. The Robson – Maclagan partnership lasted only four months.

Robson split with former coach Zelko Krajan prior to the French Open due to a lackluster claycourt season. She then hird Maclagan on a trial basis during the grasscourt season. It seemed like the decision paid off as she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and rose to a career high ranking of number 27. She then fumbled during the North American and Asian tennis season and her ranking dropped once more to number 46.

“Miles and I have decided not to continue our partnership,” Robson said in a statement. “I want to thank Miles for stepping in on quick notice to be my coach this summer. I have great respect for him as a person and coach and look forward to continuing our friendship. I will take a couple weeks off to refresh my mind and body and will keep my fans updated on my coaching situation.”

The 19-year old British player will be spending the off season practicing at the Nick Bollettieri Academy. Some prominent coaches have cropped up as potential replacement including Michael Joyce (who coached Maria Sharapova in the past) and Thomas Hogstedt (also a former Sharapova coach).
