Maria Sharapova tweets she’ll start 2014 season at Brisbane International

Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova said via her official Twitter account a week ago that she plans to start her 2014 season via the Brisbane International. Sharapova participated at the Australian event his year but had to pull out due to a minor injury.

Sharapova engaged with fans via Twitter a week ago and she answered that she will start her 2014 season in Brisbane. However, this development has yet to be confirmed by the tournament officials.

Brisbane International 2014 takes place from December 29, 2013 to January 5, 2014. Since the event is just a couple of months away, Sharapova’s declaration is clouded in doubt. The Russian superstar has already ended her 2013 season in order to rehabilitate her injured right shoulder due to bursitis. Even if she won’t make it at the Queensland Tennis Center, Brisbane International will still have a stellar field which includes defending champion and world number one Serena Williams.
