Milos Raonic pulls out of Swiss Indoors Basel, cites “personal reasons” for withdrawal

Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic has pulled out of the ATP 500 Swiss Indoors Basel which starts on Monday, citing “personal reasons” for withdrawing from the tournament.

Reports revealed that Raonic was in fact in Basel at the time of the announcement and pulled out at the last minute prior to the determination of the draw.

This development means that Raonic’s chances of qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals have suffered a setback. He still does have an outside chance of qualifying if he finishes strongly at the Paris Masters which takes place after the Basel tournament. The Paris Masters is an ATP 1000 tournament which Raonic is still scheduled to attend.

There’s still no word yet from Raonic or from his team as to the specifics for the withdrawal.
