Roger Federer aims for redemption at Swiss Indoors Basel

World number seven Roger Federer is aiming to rekindle the magic at the Swiss Indoors Basel which begins on Monday in a bid to qualify for the prestigious ATP World Tour Finals. The Swiss star now stands in eighth place for the season-ending event and is in danger of not becoming a part of this elite event he’s won six times in the past.

Federer’s chances of winning the ATP 500 event for the sixth time has increased following the withdrawal of world number one Rafael Nadal due to exhaustion. The Swiss Maestro is seeded third at this event. His compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka, also aiming to qualify for the London event for the first time, is seeded fourth.

Canadian Milos Raonic has pulled out of the event due to personal reasons. Defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro will now head the field as the top seed with Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic getting the number two seeding.
