Roger Federer says he’ll be happy if Wawrinka qualifies for ATP World Tour Finals, even if he won’t be able to

Swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer said that he’ll be happy if good friend and compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka will qualify for the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals even if he himself won’t be able to make it to the elite group that will compete in London.

Federer is currently seventh in the ATP Race to London standings and is just five points behind Wawrinka. He’s now just only 25 points ahead of Richard Gasquet after the latter won the Kremlin Cup title in Moscow on Sunday.

“I’ll be happy if Stan qualifies,” Federer was quoted by ATP World Tour site. “If that means I’ll miss it, I honestly don’t care. It means he was the better player for the year. I’m always happy for his results. I don’t see it as a rivalry as such. We’ll see at the end of Paris how it’s all going to pan out. But clearly with Murray not playing it gives an extra spot and a little more air for both of us. I hope he can play a great tournament.”
