Serena Williams plans to take game to a new level in 2014 season

This is not the news that WTA players would like to know.

World number one Serena Williams has no plans of slowing down in 2014 as the American plans to take her outstanding game to yet another new level next year.

“I never thought I would have one of my best years this year, and now there is an opportunity to do even better,” the 17-time Grand Slam champion said.

“I am interested for next year to take my game to a new level, which I think I can do,” she added.

Williams said that it would be hard to achieve 23 Grand Slam singles titles. The tennis star with the most number of Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era is Steffi Graf with 22.

“Even if I got to 23 Grand Slams, it would be very hard, you know, with so many wonderful players, especially now. There are so many great new players coming up. Everyone is so young, everyone is so hungry, everyone wants to be the next number one,” Williams said.

“So, you know, it’s going to be even tough for me to get to 18. Obviously that’s my goal, but I take it one match at a time,” she added.
