Spain secures Junior Davis Cup title for the fifth time

Spain secured its fifth Junior Davis Cup tournament title after defeating South Korea in a thrilling final that took place on Sunday in Mexico.

In the first rubber, Pedro Martinex Portero defeated Kukeon Kang 7-6, 6-3 to give the Spaniards an early lead. The Koreans did not make it easy for the champions either, having secured the second rubber after Seongchan Hong defeated Spain’s number one Jaume Antoni Munar Clar 6-1, 6-2. However, the Spaniards secured the deciding doubles rubber after Martinez Portero and Munar Clar outlasted Kang and Yun Seong Chung 6-3, 7-5.
