The WTA Championships 2013 Istanbul is a season-ending elite tennis event that takes place from October 22 to 27 at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey. This will be the last edition of the WTA Championships in Istanbul as the event makes a transfer all the way to Singapore starting in 2014.
World number one Serena Williams is the defending champion of this hardcourt event. Last year’s runner-up Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the event due to ongoing rehabilitation of her right shoulder.

The winner of the singles event will can get as high as $2,145,000 if she’s undefeated throughout the tournament and will get as high as 1,500 ranking points if undefeated as well. The doubles champion will receive $460,000 and 1,500 ranking points.
