Wawrinka, Berdych, Dimitrov sign up for Kooyong 2014 exhibition tournament

Three marquee players have joined Lleyton Hewitt at the AAMI Classic Tennis touranment in Kooyong, Melbourne by January 2014.

According to reports, Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych, Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka and Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov have confirmed their participation at the Australian Open 2014 warm up event. Wawrinka was a runner-up at this event back in 2009 where he lost to compatriot Roger Federer.

“Tomas has enjoyed another tremendous year on the tour scoring wins over the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray,” Tournament Director Brian Cooney said.

Dimitrov is having a productive 2013 season so far, highlighted with his maiden title victory in Stockholm last weekend.

“The Bulgarian has a tremendous personality and a fantastic game to watch, especially off the backhand side,” said Cooney.

Defending champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia is slated to be back at the tournament which takes place from January 8 to 11, 2014.
