Andy Murray favored to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year Honors

Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray keeps on getting accolades and he’s in the running to win another important award.

The world number four is favored to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award based on his outstanding achievements in the field of tennis.

According to a report from The Guardian, the Scot is competing with the other nine nominees for the category. Other contenders include Mo Farah and Tony McCoy.

Murray missed the rest of the season since the Asian swing of tournaments after undergoing back surgery. In July, he won his first Wimbledon title to become the first homegrown male tennis player in 77 years to win the title at the All England Club. Murray defeated then-number one Novak Djokovic for the title.
