Andy Murray included in Most Influential Men of 2013 list

Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray was included at AskMen Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2013 despite being inactive on tour for nearly two months. Murray joins a number of popular names such as basketball player Jason Collins, business tycoon Elon Musk, astronaut Chris Hadfield and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston.

Murray is ranked number 32, which is a spot higher from his previous ranking a year ago. The AskMen readers were encouraged to vote for male individuals that have made an impact this year. The voting process lasted a month.

“Andy Murray has a knack for winning when England hosts crucial tournaments. The Scottish superstar won glory for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics, taking home gold in the men’s singles category, and this year emerged victorious at Wimbledon after a hard-won fight against Novak Djokovic,” wrote AskMen.

“His Wimbledon win broke a 77-year British dry spell, so needless to say, he’s a major hero at home. Currently ranked at No. 4 in the world, Murray, at 26, is clearly set to accomplish much more in tennis and will continue to battle his fiercest rivals in thrilling [matches] to come.”

Murray has been getting a lot of accolades this season, including being presented with an OBE (Officer of Order of British Empire) honor at the Buckingham Palace by the Duke of Cambridge.
