British tennis great Tim Henman join other veterans at charity exhibition at Royal Albert Hall

39-year old British player Tim Henman will be joining other tennis greats Greg Rusedski, Pat Rafter and Mark Philippoussis at a charity tennis exhibition competition at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This also serves as the grand opening ceremony of the Statoil Masters Tennis.

The proceeds from the event on December 4 will benefit Best Beginning, the chosen charity of the tournament. Singles and doubles matches will be featured in the event.

“I’m thrilled to be playing at the Royal Albert Hall again with my old rivals and to support Best Beginnings – as a father of three I know how important it is to give children the best start in life possible,” Henman said.

Best Beginnings is an organization that gives families with support and information that will help them improve their children’s health, well-being and future life chances.

“We’re thrilled to have been chosen as this year’s charity,” said Best Beginning CEO Alison Baum.

“The money and profile raised on the night will help us to support more families across the UK and help them give their babies the best possible start,” Baum added.

The Statoil Masters Tennis is one of the tournaments under the ATP Champions Tour. The ATP Champions Tour features former top-ranked players, Grand singles finalists and winners and Davis Cup winners.

“We are delighted to announce Best Beginnings as our charity for 2013, and to stage an opening night with so many big tennis names,” said IMG Sponsorship Managing Director Charlie Grave.

“Henman, Rusedski, Philippoussis and Rafter are hugely popular, and their presence will help us to raise money for a very important cause,” he added.
